AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A number of social media users have opposed sending a group of Afghan army cadets for training to a military training academy in Pakistan, despite being a sign of increased cooperation between the two neighbors.
The six-member group has been sent to a military compound in Abbottabad city of Pakistan for 18-month training.
The Pajhwok Afghan News Agency conducted a survey on its Facebook page and collected comments of social media users which according to the news agency most of the users opposed the decision by the Afghan government to send the army cadets for training to Pakistan.
Shahidullah Shahid, a social media user, said the Afghan National Army (ANA) have been trained very well inside the country; this is a waste of time to send them for training to Pakistan. He added that Afghan forces are good what they are, and sending them to Pakistan is not a good decision.
Another Facebook user, Mohammad Noor, termed the decision as treason to the people of Afghanistan, and said he was against sending Afghan troops to Pakistan for training.
In response to a query by Pajhwok Afghan News, Gul Mohammad, a Facebook user, said the government should be cautious in this regard and should send smart individuals there. “Pakistan is not a good country and never wants Afghanistan to become prosperous,” he added.
Similarly, Facebook users like Mohammad Safi, Navid Nasirzai, Nusrat Paktiawal, Muqim Rustami and Mohammad Musa also disapproved of sending of army cadets for training to Pakistan.
Hosai Andar and Mir Sidiq, Facebook users, also opposed the decision by the Afghan government, and said the leaders of the national unity government should not repeat the mistakes of the past.
The Afghan ambassador in Islamabad, Janan Mosazai, said the other day that six army cadets were selected to join 18-month training in Pakistan. He added that sending the cadets to Pakistan indicates that ties between the two countries have improved and the two countries are stepping towards strengthening relations between security forces of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention here that Islamabad has several times suggested the Afghan government to send Afghan army cadets for training to Pakistan but the suggestions were rejected by the former President Hamid Karzai.
