KABUL: The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) on Monday issued an arrest warrant for Habibullah Ahmadzai, a former security advisor to President Asrhaf Ghani.
Habibullah Ahmadzai has recently alleged Presidential Palace of “sexual charges”. However, the AGO said that Ahmadzai had no evidence to proof his allegations.
The ex-advisor had earlier claimed that some women in a bid to achieve high-level positions and appointments were forced to offer “sexual favors” to some specific officials at the Presidential Palace.
Jamshid Rasuli, spokesman for the AGO, told reporters on Monday that Ahmadzai appeared on May 30 and had shared the accusations with the tasked delegation, but provided no documents or proofs.
“Ahmadzai was summoned through an inquiry letter to present proof and evidence in support of his claims, but he has provided so far nothing to the investigative team.”
However, Habibullah Ahmadzai expressed unawareness of the summoning letter. He told Voice of America that he would never put the proofs and documents at the AGO’s disposal and asked for the formation of a comprehensive committee comprised of civil society activists, Ulema, influential figures and prosecutors.
