KABUL: The domestic agricultural products would increase in the new year, government officials are optimistic.
Minister of Agriculture said on Friday in a gathering to celebrate March 22 called Farmer’s Day in Kabul that “Afghanistan will reach self-sufficiency on the agricultural products” this year.
He said that basic works were done on different sectors of agriculture last year, adding that the government plans to export agricultural products this year to abroad.
Meanwhile, the farmers are happy with last winter’s snowfall and say that it helps them to have more products. The farmers also say that suitable markets outside the country would be found for their products.
Afghanistan now exports saffron, pistachio, pomegranates and peanuts to the regional countries through different air corridors.
