AT-KABUL: An airfield constructed for the military choppers was opened in southern Ghazni province, officials said Tuesday.
The small airfield for safe takeoffs and landing of military helicopters was inaugurated in Malistan district, said Public relation and Information Director for Civil Aviation Authority Qasim Rahimi.
He said that the new airport was constructed for the objectives to address immediate transport challenges of Malistan district.
The airport was constructed as required standards at a total cost of $30,000 funded by Civil Aviation Authority, he added.
The airport can accommodate enough helicopters and vehicles.
Malistan is a mountainous and remote district of southern Ghazni province, which by inauguration of helicopter airport urgent flight operation safely will takeoff in the district. Malistan district people will be helped during natural and unnatural disasters particularly during winter season.
