By Farhad Naibkehl-KABUL: Ministry of Commerce and Industries is to integrate the Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA), officials said Wednesday.
“The draft of integration was discussed in high economic council the other day,” deputy commerce minister Abdul Bari Rahman said.
“The government plans to integrate parallel organs and coordinate facilities,” Rahman told reporters.
The ministry had no capacity to provide facilities to the businessmen and investors in the past, so the AISA was established, he added.
He highlighted that “currently, the ministry has the capacity, thus the AISA will continue serving in the framework of the ministry.”
The official said that the investors had to follow a long process through different addresses to take work permit in the past, so, the government struggles to simplify the process and the investors can get license from one address.
He added that the AISA would be integrated along with all of its personnel.
“Only the process objective is simplification, AISA staffs will not face losing of jobs.”
Head of the AISA Qurban Haqjo confirmed the decision regarding integration of AISA, but said that he was not formally informed.
He said that the integration of the AISA would be a backward step in investment.
“As the head of the AISA, I did not find the chance to express my viewpoint about the decision taken regarding the integration of AISA,” Qurban said.
