AT-KABUL: The Alokozay Group of Companies has vowed to invest $ 300 million on the construction of Sarubi-2 water dam to help the irrigation and electricity generation, an official said Monday.
Water and energy minister Ali Ahmad Osmani said in a meeting of economic council led by president Ghani that the construction of the dam would help to generate 180 megawatt electricity.
Also, Amanullah Ghalib, deputy minister said several private firms were interested to invest on the dam.
The Alokozay Group representative called the group’s aim to contribute in the development of the country.
During a meeting of the National Procurement Commission (NPC) late in March this year, President Ghani reviewed a report by the Ministry of Energy and Water regarding the construction of 29 large, medium and small water dams.
Ghani said necessary measures would be put in place for the start of key infrastructure projects, considering a balance and the available resources.
The Ministry of Finance said that the task was given for committee to take necessary steps for arrangement of funds of for the projects
The ministry of energy and water was instructed to seek ways in attracting private sector investments as well for the implementation of the projects.
