AT-KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani wished “a very happy Independence Day to everyone in Afghanistan”. “This day was earned with lots of sacrifices. We must pay homage and celebrate this legacy,” President Ghani said in twitter account.
He added: “Whilst we celebrate this precious day in independence, we, especially youth, must also reflect on our history and learn lessons from the past.”
He further went: “Today is also a perfect moment to look back on the glorious era of Ghazi Amanullah Khan and learn from his. He was a visionary/inspiring leader.”
President Ghani also attended an official ceremony to mark the occasion on Saturday and laid a wreath at the Minaret of Independence.
Independence was gained 98 years ago from Great Britain during King Amanuulah Khan’s rule. This day is widely celebrating across.
