KABUL: In an interview with a Pakistani media, the NATO’s top civilian representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Nicholas Kay said that NAOT helping Afghanistan and its people to achieve a sustainable peace, and it is the priority of the allies.
Kay called on the Taliban to listen to the voices of Afghans and don’t ignore the nation’s demands for peace and stability in Afghanistan. “The Afghans were crying for peace but the Taliban ignored their wishes,” he added. He emphasized on beginning of intra-Afghan talks which includes the government, Taliban and political stakeholders.
Furthermore, Kay called on the neighboring countries of Afghanistan to support Afghan peace process and let the country reach a political settlement.
Supporting the resumption of peace talks, NATO representative has praised the efforts had been made regarding Afghan peace by US special representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad.
Talking about the Afghanistan Presidential Polls, Kay has emphasized on counting of valid votes. He demanded the election sides to accept the result of the election, which the preliminary result would be announced by the independent election commission on November 14th.
