AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: General Syed Abdul Karim said that a well-equipped special unit of the Afghan National Army (ANA) had been deployed to Kunduz province for nighttime raids in the northern zone.
“Kunduz, Baghlan, Takhar and Badakhshan are those provinces where the newly deployed troops would conduct night raids,” Karim said. He also said that all military operations being conducted independently by the Afghan National Army (ANA) troops and the NATO troops were playing supporting role including equipping Afghan soldiers.
All night raids facilities including night vision goggles, air transport, aircrafts, armored vehicles and modern weapons were provided to the ANA unit, said the military commander.
Night raids would be a big blow to the militants, Karim said. “Commandos and the ANA unit would defiantly put pressures on insurgents through the raids. The ANA would use all available resources to eliminate anti-state elements,” he said.
