AT-KABUL: More than fifty-seven Taliban insurgents have been killed and ten wounded in fresh offensives launched by Afghan security forces over the past day.
The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Afghan Army and Police and National Directorate of Security officers launched joint operations against insurgents in different areas in Nangarhar, Ghazni, Kandahar, Herat, Faryab, and Helmand, Kunduz, Baghlan and Sar-e-Pul provinces, killing 57 insurgents and wounding ten others.
Afghan security forces shelled and bombed positions and sanctuaries by launching airstrikes and firing artilleries.
During these operations, 23 Taliban fighters were killed and a vehicle of the enemy destroyed in Qaisar district of Faryab, nine militants were killed and four others wounded in Kohistanat district of Sar-e-Pul, eight insurgents killed, a recruitment center, two ammunition cache of the enemy destroyed in Gereshk, Nadali districts and around of the Lashkargah city of Helmand, seven rebels were killed and three others wounded in Trinkot district of Uruzgan, six militants were killed and one wounded in Pir Shahbaz and Khogiani area of Ghazni province.
Similar, three insurgents were killed and two others wounded in Zirok district of Paktika, three militants were killed and three others wounded in Zani Khan and Dehyak district of Ghazni.
In past 24 hours, 12 planed clearing operations, and 109 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted 128 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 10 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
