AT-KABUL: Afghan Special Forces in an overnight operation raided a Taliban prison in volatile Helmand and rescued 58 people including security personnel from lock up, local military authorities said.
“In a raid on a Taliban prison, Afghan army special forces liberated58 people in Musa Qala district of southern Helmand province, said head of press office of ANA special force corps Abdul Qayom Nuristani.
He said that four army soldiers, fifteen police personnel and two doctors were among those rescued from captivity. Four Taliban fighters were also arrested.
Ministry of Defense in a statement confirmed the release of 58 people from a Taliban prison, saying the operation has been carried out based on intelligence information that had been acquired.
