AT-KABUL: More than 100 schoolgirls fell ill after inhaling the suspected poisoning gas, medical officials said Saturday.
Officials in the ministry of public health said that 125 schoolgirls were poisoned inside their classrooms in Chaharbagh locality of the provincial capital of Farah province.
“The poisoned girls were shifted to the hospital for medical treatment after the incident,” he said, adding that they were in good health condition after getting some treatment.
The provincial public health officials said that they received more than 100 poisoned schoolgirls. They added that health workers did their best to provide medical treatment for them.
Earlier, the provincial governor’s spokesperson Mohammad Nasir Mehri had said that more than 106 girls were poisoned, adding that an investigation was ongoing to find the cause of poisoning.
Poisoning of schoolgirls is not something new and previously, several students had been poisoned. The last incident of the poisoning took place last year in the central Wardak province, in which 31 students were poisoned.
