AT-KABUL: Around 400,000 Afghan refugees have returned to the war-torn country over the past six months, Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation (MoRR) said on Sunday.
Some 377,358 Afghan refugees returned home from Pakistan and Iran in 2018, said a press statement issued by MoRR. Returnees entered Afghanistan through Spin Boldak, Torkham, Abrisham and Islam Qala border. Out of 377,358 returnees, 363,076 of them returned from Iran and 24,282 from Pakistan.
Some 206,910refugees had been deported from Iran and 1,039 from Pakistan. And according to the MoRR database, more than 246,345 Afghan refugees had returned from Pakistan and Iran during the same period of the last year, out of which100,286 returned from Pakistan and 146,059 from Iran, said the statement.
Figures reveal that returning of Afghan refugee from Iran increased, but from Pakistan decreased this year. Afghan refugees with document and without document were assisted by MoRR, UNHCR and IOM during returning to Afghanistan.
Since establishing of National Unity Government, around three million Afghan refugees have returned to the insurgency-plagued country.
