AT-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) on Sunday said that a terror bid aimed to target senior officials of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) was thwarted.
In a media statement the spy agency said that a group of five terrorists planned to target MoI’s high ranking officials by conducting a suicide attack. However, the NDS personnel arrested the terrorists in the 8th district of the capital city before executing their terror plan.
“The detained terrorists wanted to conduct attack while wearing security forces uniform, using fake identity cards and an armored vehicle,” the statement said.
Two pistols, 20 hand grenades, military uniform and explosives were recovered from the apprehended terrorists. The suspected terrorists confessed that they planned to attack the ministry. Further investigation has been launched into the case.
