KABUL: At least nine security forces were killed in a strike launched by government air force in Ghazni province, provincial officials said Tuesday.
Provincial Spokesman, Aref Noori said the attack happened Monday night in Hootqol area of the Jaghoori district.
He said that the fighter jets mistakenly targeted the public uprising forces (government-backed militias), while attacking Taliban fighters.
But Nasir Ahmad Faqiri, a member of provincial council said the victims were intelligence operatives. Tens of anti-government armed men were also killed and wounded during the airstrike.
In another incident, five fighters of the Daesh terrorist group were killed in a drone attack targeted their hideout in the Khogyani district of Nangarhar province.
Security officials say that four Taliban fighters were killed in similar attack in Paktia province, while in an operation launched by the army’s Special Forces in the Trinkot district of Uruzgan province, 18 militants were killed.
