AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar on Friday met with German ambassador to Kabul Markus Potzel, discussing issues that cause Afghans’ migration.
At least 160,000 Afghans have reportedly reached Europe over the past one year to seek asylum and some 40 percent of them have been granted.
The National Security Council said in a statement that Atmar discussed ways to ease the problems migration creates.
Atmar said that Germany and Afghanistan were working together on a multidimensional program aimed at eradicating the main cause of increasing in Afghan migrants in Europe, the statement stated.
Meanwhile, German ambassador said that his country was fully committed to support Afghanistan economically and on the security issues. He said the German government was concerned over the Afghan migrants’ issues, which be discussed in the German interior minister next week’s visit to Kabul.
The national security advisor told Potzel that Afghanistan had carried essential preparations and would share security plans and main concerns with participants at the conference.
The conference is held annually and the representatives from different countries discuss global security and political issues.
