AT-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) has foiled a suicide attack on Consulate General of India in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.
Nangarhar Media Information Center in a media statement issued here said that the spy agency had detained a would-be suicide bomber before he could attack the Indian consulate in Jalalabad. The suicide bomber was identified as Nasir, who is a resident of Tagab district of central Kapisa province.
In a video footage released by the NDS, the would-be bomber confessed that he wanted to attack the diplomatic mission.
The attacker had recently joined the Taliban militants. He was trained and instructed to carry out a suicide attack on the consulate in Jalalabad.
However, the Taliban militants have not yet commented on the arrest of their newly recruited fighter.
It is worth mentioning that about two years ago the Taliban attacked the Indian consulate in Jalalabad in which at least a dozen people were killed and over 20 injured. The victims were civilians and no diplomat had suffered injuries in the attack.
