On Friday, two separate attacks in Kabul targeted Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the leader of Hizb-e-Islami, and Obaidul Rahman Nizamani, the Pakistani ambassador in Kabul.
Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the leader of Hizb-e-Islami, said in a video message that the attackers “in women’s clothes and chador/burqa” entered his residence and were wearing explosive vests.

Two months ago, suicide attackers near the gate of the Russian embassy in Kabul killed at least 2 employees of the embassy and 4 Afghan citizens, and injured several others.
Furthermore, three attackers detonated a car full of explosives near the office of the leader of Hizb-e-Islami and tried to enter Mr. Hekmatyar’s office.
Ghairat Bahir, a senior member of Hizb-e-Islami, told AFP that the attackers were killed while trying to enter the building of Hizb-e-Islami, where a mosque is also located, and the third person escaped.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for these attacks.
