By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: Afghanistan laughed off Pakistan’s claims that Haqqani Network is being functioning from Afghanistan. Members of the Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of Parliament on Saturday strongly rejected Pakistan’s Foreign Office claim that Haqqani Network operates from Afghanistan.“It is a shameful and baseless claim that militant has hideouts inside Afghanistan.”
Senators furthered that Taliban and other terrorist groups are enjoying safe hideouts in Peshawar, Quetta and even in Abbottabad of Pakistan, in which Osama bin Laden, the leader and the founder of al-Qaeda, a terrorist organization responsible for September 11 attack on the United State, was hidden. “The killing of bin Laden is a clear example that Pakistan is providing shelters to the militants inside its soil.”
Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesman, Nafees Zakaria on Thursday claimed that Haqqani Network operates from Afghanistan, not Pakistan.
The official also claimed that the Taliban and other terrorist outfits have been eliminated from Pakistan, and that those surviving are functioning from Afghanistan.
“The demise of Mullah Omar, the founder of Taliban group in one of hospitals in Pakistan—the killing of Mullah Akhtar Mansour, his successor again in Pakistan, and the killing of bin Laden once again in Pakistan is more than enough to prove that militant outfits are enjoying shelters inside Pakistan,” Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga, Abdul Raouf Ibrahimi told senators.
He added: “It is clear to all that Quetta Shura and other Taliban leaders are in Pakistan, and war in Afghanistan is putting in order from Pakistan.”
Pakistan clams regarding presence of Taliban leaders inside Afghanistan is baseless and shameful clam, he added.
He insisted that Pakistan must cooperate in fighting terrorism with Afghanistan, otherwise this flame would be expanded and burn up Pakistan itself.
While rejecting Pakistan allegation, another lawmaker, General Nazifa Zaki, said: “It is a global realization that Taliban, and other terrorists group’s centers are in Pakistan, and they are being supporting by Pakistani authorities.”
She added that Taliban has presence in Peshawar, Quetta and even in Abbottabad—and it is not a mere claim just like Pakistani officials, because the killing of Osama bin Laden and other militant leaders are great example of the fact.”
She stated that Pakistan is training, and equipping terrorists—eventually sending them to Afghanistan to carry out subversive activities. Afghanistan is in frontline of global fight against terrorism, and sacrificed enough in this way, she underlined.
