KABUL: U.S. President Joe Biden held separate meetings with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Australian Premier Scott Morrison, discussing the situation in Afghanistan along with climate change and Covid-19.
Biden and Morrison met in the sideline of the UN General Assembly session on September 21 and hosted Johnson in Washington.
“The leaders also discussed our ongoing work on Afghanistan, as well as developments in the Indo-Pacific and the critical role of European allies and partners, including NATO and the EU, in the region,” the White House said in a statement.
This comes as Afghanistan has recently seen an ironic collapse of the government led by former President Ashraf Ghani, who has fled the country amid chaos and uncertainty.
