KABUL: US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary LIoyd Austin are summoned by congress for a hearing on Afghanistan, a US lawmaker said.
“We still face a lot of real challenges in Afghanistan even though our troop presence is gone,” Senator Jim Inhofe said on Wednesday.
A statement issued by Inhofe’s office said that Blinken and Austin will be testifying on some of these challenges.
The two senior US government officials would provide details over the status of the US citizens left behind in Afghanistan. The officials would give details about the ISIS-K or so-called Daesh attack in August amid US chaotic withdrawal.
“But their overall testimony was lacking,” he said, who is also ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
