AT-KABUL: A suicide attacker who attempted to target a blood donation campaign was shot dead on Monday in Shahr-e-Naw Park before reaching his target, officials said; a failed terrorist attempt in the wake of a string of suicide bombings.
This time terrorists wanted to target a blood donation campaign that was set up in support of the victims of terrorist attacks.
“Police spotted a suicide bomber in Shahr-e-Naw Park and shot him down,” said Police Spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai. “The attacker was heading towards a blood donation campaign launched by civil activists and Kabul citizens,” he explained.
No fatalities followed, and only the would-be suicide bomber was killed, he said.
This comes in the wake of a string of terrorist activities across the country. A dozen people were killed in a terrorist attack on a mosque in Khost province. Three weeks ago, a suicide bomber blew himself up near a voter registration site and killed more than fifty people, wounding tens more.
