AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The under-15 football squad left Kabul for Japan the other day to attend the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) championship that would be held Tokyo, the capital city of Japan.
The tournament starts on March 23 where 10 teams from the Central Asian region are participating.
The Afghanistan’s Football Federation (AFF) officials said during the departure of the team that the Afghan players were well prepared for the competition.
TOLONews quoted the head of AFF, Keramuddin Keram, as saying that they were placed in a strong group where the opponent teams were very experienced.
He said that the common masses were expected much from the under-15 squad.
The squad’s coach, Hamidullah Massoud, said the players went through tough training in winter for three months.
He said that the AFF provided them all recourses and the team members would attend the tournament with high morale.
According to the AFF officials, Afghanistan will face Iran, Uzbekistan, Japan and two other teams in Group B, while Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Japan and Turkmenistan are included in the Group A.
