AT-KABUL: A suicide car bomber on Monday targeted the US forces’ convoy in the eastern province of Nangarhar that the bomber was the only killed and two US troops were injured, local officials said.
The attack took place in the Ring Road area of Behsood district, provincial governor spokesman, Ataullah Khogianai told Afghanistan Times.
“The attacker used a car full of explosives to target foreign forces, but only the bomber was killed and no further casualties were reported” he said.
An armored vehicle of the foreign troops was partly damaged in the blast in which two US troops suffered “minor injuries” NATO Public Affairs in Kabul said.
No group has claimed credit for the attack in Nangarhar, where Taliban and ISIS have been actively waging insurgency against Afghan and foreign troops.
Afghan forces since past few weeks launched massive clearance operations against ISIS and Taliban groups in southern districts of the province in which vast swaths of the territory have been cleared in past few weeks.
The US forces increased their airstrikes in recent months to help Afghan security forces recapture the remote areasin southern district of the province as well.
