Former President Hamid Karzai flew to Kandahar on Monday to attend a mourning ceremony for slain General Raziq who embraced martyrdom in an insider attack on Thursday, touting him as a bulwark against terrorism.
In his speech, Mr. Karzai praised bravery and services rendered by the late General who, he said, played an immense role in maintaining security in the south.
He stated that the enemies of Afghanistan were seeking polarity and disintegration of the Afghan nation. “It is a sad reality, but all Afghans need to unite in bid to foil such nefarious plots to polarize our nation.”
Karzai was accompanied by Gul Rahman Qazi, Abdul Jabbar Taqwa, Zarar Ahmad Osmani, Ishaq Aleko, Maulavi Balooch, Hekmat Khalil Karzai, Nabil, Wahidullah Shahrani, Shahzada Massoud, Mullah Mujahid, Ershad Ahmadi, Ahmadullah Alizai, Hamid Seddiq, Hamed Ekram and Samiullah Sadat.
Karzai met with late Raziq’s family members, friends and tribal elders. He separately met Raziq’s mother and wished her patience. He expressed condolences over his death.
