KABUL – China categorically refuted global allegations of disinformation on Tuesday, pointing fingers at the United States for disseminating falsehoods that have, in its view, contributed to conflicts and harm in various regions, including Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.
Hua Chunying, the spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly expressed China’s stance on the matter, stating, “Consider which country has propagated disinformation leading to wars in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and more, resulting in the loss of numerous lives, economic devastation, and the stifling of technological cooperation.”
These remarks from China’s spokesperson followed a recent report by the US State Department, which accused Beijing of employing “a range of deceptive and coercive tactics” to shape the international perception of China.
Hua emphasized that “China, along with an increasing number of nations, is speaking out with the truth to counter the false narratives propagated by the United States. This has raised concerns about the US feeling threatened in terms of its freedom of speech.”
She questioned, “Is it acceptable that while the US enjoys the right to spread disinformation, China and other countries have no right to speak the truth and safeguard their national image and dignity?”Top of Form
