Kabul: Three new health centers have been inaugurated in Baghran district of Helmand province. According to the reports twenty children have died from cholera disease in the Baghran district of southern Helmand province, on Monday.
Health officials of Helmand told Bakhtar news agency that over 120 people in Baghran district of this province have been infected with cholera, and nearly 20 of them have died.
According to health officials of Helmand, mobile health teams have been sent from the center of this province to Baghran district and the treatment of cholera patients is ongoing.
Cholera has also spread in a number of districts of Zabul province and dozens of people have been infected with this disease.
He stressed there was a need for the control of cholera disease with the support of NGOs working in the area of health.
Cholera is a severe intestinal infection. A patient infected with cholera virus suffers from severe diarrhea and vomiting. The main cause of cholera virus spread is contaminated drinking water.
