AT News Report-KABUL: Islamic clerics have called for a permanent ceasefire between the government and the rebel Taliban ahead of Muslims’ major ritualEid al-Adha, in the wake of relentless terrorist bombings and military counter-offensives.
Speaking at the first session of Ulema Commission for Society Reforms, Head of Ulema Council Mawlawi QaiamudinKashaf said that Afghan Ulema suggest from both side to declare a permanent ceasefire in coming Eid-Ul-Adha.
He said that the Ulema urge both side to follow the truce in order to lead to a direct talks and reach to durable peace in the country.
Religious scholars call on both sides for ceasefire as two months ago around 3000 Afghan Ulema came together and announced the ongoing war unlawful and termed haram the blood shedding of innocent people in the country. They also at the session asked both government and Taliban to announce ceasefire. After aforementioned session government and the Taliban announced ceasefire during Ramadan Eid.
