AT-KABUL: The Mediothek, a non-government organization on Wednesday launched a two-day conference titled ‘media role in peace process’ for motivating media to generate peace process culture across the country.
Different government officials, parliamentarians and media representatives discussed how the media can support peace process.
“Media can play a crucial role in generating of peace culture than violence, thus it is required of media outlets to operate maturely in the aspect,” said Sayeda Muzhgan Mustafawi, deputy culture minister.
She said that media can play positive role in fighting corruption, discrimination, smuggling of people and narcotic.
“Media must generate culture of peace and make balance during broadcasting of negative reports particularly war reports,” Mustafawi said.
The deputy head of the High Peace Council, Mawlawi Khabir, said media outlets and Ulema are responsible to quite flame of war in the country.
He said that media outlets must aware people of war negative consequences and encourage people to keep unity in the country.
Senior presidential adviser Nader Naderi said that beside negative news media must focus over broadcasting positive news in order to support peace process across the country.
He reiterated that government will exert utmost efforts to facilitate access to information in the country.
