AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Interior Minister on Friday said the national police would leave no stone unturned to ensure citizen’s safety but close coordination among security forces and people is needed to bolster peace and stability in the country.
Noor-ul-Haq Ulumi told a session in southern Kandahar province that he prefers to start his work from his home province—Kandahar. “Afghans have been searching for peace and stability for the past 35 years. I am fully committed to ensure peace, stability, prosperity and security in the country,” he said.
He said that each and every Afghan is waiting for witnessing lasting peace in Afghanistan, and this can be achieved when the people highly support and coordinate with the government.
He added that the national unity government’s main purpose is to ensure stability and support good governance. “We will leave no stone unturned to maintain peace and stability in the country. No citizen will cooperate the government sans peace,” the minister said.
He pledged that a strategy would be implemented to encourage and bring back those who are against the system.
The session was attended by lawmakers from Kandahar, Helmand, Uruzgan and Zabul provinces, security officials, tribal elders and youth.
The acting governor of Kandahar, Toryalai Weesa, said it is kind of best pleasure that the new interior minister kicked off his work from the province. “The interior minister has high experience in conducting activities of the ministry. People should not demand the government to provide more uplift projects for their provinces; instead, they should try to prioritize the national interests of the Afghan nation,” he added.
Haji Agha Lalai, MP from Kandahar, requested the interior minister to send a delegation to the province aimed at putting aside the tensions of people about law-and-order in the southern province.
Senator Mohammad Hashim said the Interior Ministry should take in account the suggestion of people and address their problems in a better way.
A tribal elder from Uruzgan, Obaidullah Khan, said the Ministry of Interior should address problems of those security forces that are in the line of duty in insecure areas.
