AT-KABUL: The state-run High Peace Council calls on the government’s opposition political parties to share their offers over the peace talks with the Taliban militants.
It says that many efforts were made regarding the peace process at national and international levels, adding that political parties should share their schemes with the council for further strength of the process.
Abdul Rasoul Sayyaf, a former jihadi leader, had earlier said a national delegation would be formed for the peace talks.
Mohammad Amin Waqad, a member of the peace council, said in reaction to Sayyaf’s remarks that all the jihadi and political leaders should share their plans with the council.
“They (political parties) should make a direct or indirect contact to the peace council and say what they could do. This should be in mutual understanding with the government and peace council. They need to present their views and we will welcome their opinions,” said Waqad.
Sayyaf was quoted by the media as saying that the political parties had agreed to form a national delegation to hold talks with the Taliban. He added that representatives from all parties including the government would be parts of the delegation. He has also said that peace with the Taliban should put an end to the long-time war.
But, political experts ask the jihadi leaders to wait for the steps made by the government and world community over peace talks with Taliban.
“Their first suggestion was that they would form the delegation and send to Taliban. But, Sayyaf corrected it on Sunday, including government representatives in the delegation. This is a premature suggestion and they should wait for the government and international community’s steps over the peace talks,” said political analyst, YounusFakoor.
