KABUL: Afghanistan has recorded 166 new cases of coronavirus and five deaths in the past 24 hours around the country, said the Ministry of Public Health on Sunday.
The total tally since the outbreak of the epidemic has reached to 60,288 cases across the country.
According to the ministry, the new cases were reported out of 1,922 suspected samples during this period of time.
Another 119 patients have fully recovered during the same period of time, the ministry added.
The total recoveries exceeded to 53,391 and the deaths to 2,642 in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic started a year ago.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 3,192,852 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 152,209,709, according to Johns Hopkins University.
