KABUL: Afghanistan has recorded 77 new positive cases of coronavirus and eight fatalities in the past 24 hours across the country, the Ministry of Public Health said Sunday.
The total tally since the outbreak of the virus has now stands to 54,672 across the country.
The news cases were registered out of 1,593-suspected samples tested during this period.
Another 355 patients have fully recovered during this time.
The total recoveries have exceeded to 47,298 and the deaths to 2,386 in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic started nearly one year ago.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 2,121,681 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 98,782,736, according to Johns Hopkins University.
