KABUL: Afghanistan has recorded 84 new positive cases of coronavirus and six fatalities in the past 24 hours throughout the country, said the Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday.
The total tally since the outbreak of the epidemic has reached to 53,774 cases around the country.
These cases come positive out of 2,109 suspected samples. Another 199 patients have fully recovered during the same period of time.
The total recoveries have exceeded to 44,810 and the deaths to 2,314 in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic started nearly one year ago.
This comes while the Afghan health authorities have urged the people to use masks in crowded gatherings and observe social distancing in order to prevent the third wave of the virus.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,963,934 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 91,669,273, according to Johns Hopkins University.
