Abdul Zuhoor Qayomi-KABUL: Kabul Police Chief on Tuesday claimed that crimes have decreased by 37 percent, as comparing to the past.
Abdul Rahman Rahemi said that it was expected that crime rate will rise due to widespread unemployment across the country, but it has dropped as comparing to the past.
Rahemi didn’t mention exact figures, but said only 11 cases of kidnappings have occurred over the past four months and they have arrested perpetrators of all the cases.
He said that the police in cooperation with other security organizations have taken all necessary measures to beef up security during Eid-ul-Fitr.
“Eve teasers and others who are annoying people during Eid will be detained,” he added.
While talking about achievements of Kabul police in the past two weeks, Rahemi said that they have arrested 250 suspected criminals charged with different crimes, including murder, robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and weapon smuggling and so on.
He said that they have handed over some of the detained people to judicial organizations.
Briefing reporters about achievements of Kabul police in fight against terrorism, Rahemi said that they have recovered 28 different kinds of weapons from a residential house in Alikhel village of Kabul. He added that police have arrested four people in connection with the weapons.
