CSHRO urges govt to ensure public security

By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: Civil Society and Human Rights Organization (CSHRO) on Thursday expressed concerns over insecurity and terror attacks in the country and urged the government to ensure public security.

While expressing deep concerns over rapidly growing insecurity and terror attacks in different parts of the country including the capital city, the member of CSHRO, Abdul Wadood Pedram, said that the government should take steps to ensure that general public was not threatened by militants.

Speaking at a press conference here he said that after the mass protest in front of the Presidential Palace the government pledged to overcome insecurity, but shortly after the promise 20 people were abducted in southern Zabul province.

Talking about the attack on a political affairs analyst Ahmad Saeedi by unknown armed man in the capital city, he said that looking at such attacks one could say that the government has failed to protect citizens.

“If the government does not pay attention to protect people then the situation will become worst,” he added.

Abdullah Ahmadi, another civil rights activist, said that civil societies exert utmost efforts through different ways to convey their concerns to the government. He said the groups held press conferences and launch peaceful protests even in front of the Presidential Palace to ask for improved security across the country.

He said the civil societies would continue their efforts until the government ensures tight security in the entire country.

Baqi Samandar, another activist, condemned attack on the political analyst Saeedi and asked the government to bring the perpetrators to the books.

CSHRO also released a resolution. It asked the government to revise security and defense policies, particularly regarding elimination of the terrorists’ sanctuaries.

The resolution also asked the government to bring all those to the court of justice who were involved in attack on Saeedi. The resolution also reminded the government of its promises, made after the recent protest in front of the Presidential Palace.
