Daesh commander kills his 11 fighters in Nangarhar

AT-KABUL: A notorious militant commander, loyal to the Islamic State which is also known as Daesh, had shot dead his eleven associates in Achin district of Nangarhar province, an official said on Friday .

Provincial governor’s spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said that the incident took place on Friday night in Karkana area of the district. “Daesh commander, identified as Zamin Jan alias Abu Bakr had fled the area after killing his eleven fighters,” he said.

Daesh fighters are trying to recruit more men to fight and they are offering good salary to recruits. A month ago, an official from Ghazni province said that Daesh is active in the province. He said that the multinational terrorist group is busy in recruiting people to disrupt the security. Provincial officials urged the relevant authorities to take notice of the issue and identify those actors who are backing the group in Afghanistan.

At that time, the provincial council member Amanullah Kamrani said that Daesh militants were constructing check posts in certain parts of the province to destabilize Ghazni.

Previously, however, Ministry of Defense official said that Daesh has no hideouts in Afghanistan and they were defeated by Afghan National Security and Defense Forces in various battlefields.

Two weeks ago, a senior Afghan security official said that Daesh is attempting to establish a command center and positions in the western parts of the country, calling on the government to speed up action to halt the terrorist group from routing.

“The ISIL is trying to prepare Ghor province as a center for coordination to increases integrity among its members in Western Afghanistan and extend its terrorist plots this way,” Deputy Police Commander of Ghor province, Aman Azimi told Fars News Agency (FNA).

“The central government should take immediate action to send more forces to cleanse the region from the ISIL terrorists,” source quoted him, as saying.

This statement came after Zamir Kabulov, the head of the Asia and Meddle East department of the Russian foreign ministry, who also serves as special envoy of the Russian president to Afghanistan, said that the presence of the Daesh in Afghanistan is a significant security threat.

He also said that Daesh terrorist group has dramatically increased its presence in Afghanistan and is preparing to expand into other Central Asian countries and Russia.
