AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Daesh has killed a religious scholar in Bati Kot district of eastern Nangarhar province, official sources said on Wednesday.
Chief of Bati Kot district Niamatullah Noorzai said that the scholar named Mawlawi Gul Agha was an instructor at a seminary who was attacked in Shashkhil area around 07:00 am this morning.
He was approaching from his house towards Madrassa near to the district center when he came under the attack of Daesh terrorists, the district chief said. Mawlawi Gul Agha was the second religious scholar who came under the attack of Daesh and was killed brutally.
The group killed a scholar in Bati Kot’s neighboring Achin district in the middle of September. Daesh is trying to expand its activities and take control of much parts of the province. It currently operates in at least eight of the 22 districts of this province.
Ministry of Defense is considering a large-scale military operation against Daesh in Nangarhar but the date has not been announced.
