KABUL – An explosion struck near a mosque in Mazar-i-Sharif on Monday morning, killing one woman and injuring at least three others, local sources confirmed.
The blast occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. local time. Eyewitnesses say the explosion was caused by explosives planted in the area, though the exact nature of the device has yet to be confirmed.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far, and authorities are investigating the scene.
Security has been tightened around the area amid fears of further violence.
