AT News Report-KABUL: Top defense officials have announced that Afghan forces used drones to detect and subdue Taliban’s spring fighting tactics in four zones of the country.
The defense ministry spokesperson said drones provide a great counter-balance measure against the Taliban and give defense forces necessary information about its tactics. Muhammad Radmanish said that Taliban’s spring offensive meant to target civilians not the battle forces.
The Taliban in a statement has announced the launch of its yearly spring offensive, declaring the US forces in Afghanistan as its primary target and Afghan government and security forces as its secondary targets.
Taliban’s spring offensive traditionally marks the start of the so-called fighting season, though last winter the Taliban continued to battle Afghan and US forces. This comes as the Taliban group has been under pressure to accept President Ghani’s February offer of peace talks.
