KABUL: At least 32 Taliban militants have been killed and four others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Monday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Ghazni, Balkh, Helmand, Uruzgan, Faryab and Kunduz provinces, in which 32 militants were killed and four others wounded.
Afghan security forces detained three militants and handed them over to the judicial organs for further inquiry. Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations, 13 Taliban fighters were killed and one cache of ammunition and weapons destroyed in Dehyak district of Ghazni—five militants killed, one detained, one vehicle, three motorbikes, three tactical vests and amount of weapons and munitions were seized in Balkh district of Balkh—four insurgents killed, two suspects arrested, one IED making facility, one hideout, 40 Fighting positions, 300 meter ditch were destroyed and 29 rounds of landmines were recovered and defused in Nad Ali and Nahar Saraj districts of Helmand province.
Similarly, four militants were killed, three wounded and one tunnel, one fighting position destroyed and 18 round of IEDs discovered and defused in vicinity of capital of Urzgan—three insurgents killed in Dawlat Abad district of Faryab—three rebels killed in Hakim Bayay and Naw Abad villages of Kunduz province.
In the past 24 hours, 20 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 22 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
