Indeed, election is one of the most important pillars of democracy to be practiced in a very best manner. Elections are the most important time for both citizens in country and the politicians. A free and fire election guarantees the trust of the citizens in the elected government. As we all know, democracy is defined as a government of the people, for the people, and by the people. The Afghan masses have voted with enthusiasm in the last elections even at the cost of their lives. This shows how eager we are to elect a President or Member of Parliament unbiased to work only for national interests. Therefore, the elected leaders have a responsibility of ensuring that the country is run in the most efficient way which brings about prosperity. Over the doubt, elections have greater impacts on developing strong democracies since people have an ultimate say in the right way they want to be governed. However, question stirs here that what kind of election can address people’s problem through strengthening democracy. What if election was full of fraud? This can be happen only when having fair, free, and transparent elections. People’s vote must be counted and respected. No room should be available for fraud, and officials at the Independent Election Commission must keep head on it. The consequences of fraudulent election could be very much tedious that could steer the country toward crisis. Bluntly, a raging election is looming. Already fake national identity cards, and fake voting stickers have been surfaced. Across the country, there are plenty of counterfeited national identity cards that undermined transparency of elections. There is an urgent need of reform in IEC as leaders of powerful political parties sought revoke in registration process, acknowledging massive frauds. Originally, two million people have not been registered so far, according to them. But UNAMA has said nine million people registered, absolutely, against political parties figures. This is an exaggerated figure considering the deteriorating security scenario in many provinces. UNAMA must support the reality; we are not in an age of illusions. Insecurity has been intensified, it is a fact. In addition to that five provincial IEC offices have been shut due to ongoing protest in the north. UNAMA is a very responsible agency that has been helping Afghanistan in several areas and that for long time. But such overstatement was unexpected, it’s better to side the Afghan masses rather than IEC that hiding its failure via fraudulent election.
