AT Monitoring Desk-Kabul: The intelligence operatives have detained eight people in connection with Wednesday’s suicide attack on a media outlet staff in Kabul, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said Friday.
A suicide bomber blew himself up next to a mini bus carrying the staff of the private Tolo TV broadcaster Wednesday afternoon in Kabul city.
The attack left seven people including three female personnel of the TV killed and more than 20 injured.
“A group of eight terrorists were arrested in a special operation launched by the NDS in Bagrami district of Kabul province,” it said in a statement.
The statement said that the arrested people had link with the Haqqani network (a Taliban affiliated group best known as the military wing of the group), claiming that the network had hands in the attack.
Earlier, Taliban had taken responsibility for the attack.
This was the first time that media-related people were targeted, though several journalists were killed in different incidents in the past.
