KABUL: At least eight drug runners have been sentenced to years behind bars after being found guilty of drug trafficking, the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) said on Tuesday. The prosecution made in the past one week.
According to CJTF, three drug traffickers were sentenced to five years’ incarceration after examining their dossiers by the primary court of CJTF.
Other five traffickers were sentenced to several years’ of prison by the appeal court of CJTF, the statement added.
The Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) has seized 2kg heroin, 6kg morphine, 19kg opium and 1125kg hashish from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, according to the statement.
At the same period, CNP and other intelligence forces have arrested 12 suspected drug traffickers during operation in different provinces. Dossiers of the detained drug runners have also been sent to the related organs for further inquiry.
These culprits were detained with drugs in Kabul, Herat, Helmand and Baghlan provinces.
After examining the evidence and arguments from both sides, the CJTF court convicted the accused traffickers to different incinerations.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and would be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics law of Afghanistan.
