AT News Report-KABUL: The two electoral commissions are under severe pressure from the powerful individuals, and they have taken these commissions as hostages, claimed the Free and Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan (FEFA).
The electoral complaints commission said it has recently disqualified 25 people who are accused of leading illegal and irresponsible armed men and committing crimes.
But the FEFA says it was not enough and the commission should have disqualified more powerful people who have hands in illegal activities.
“The electoral commissions are under pressure by powerful individuals and they are taking the commissions hostage,” said Yousuf Rashid, head of FEFA.
He also accused the government of silence because it doesn’t want to confront the powerful people and make new rivals.
Rashid believes that weak point of the complaints commission and silence of the government have given the powerful persons chance to open their ways to parliament and continue their illegal works through legal channels.
