AT-KABUL: The special envoy of Germany for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Michael Koch, stressed that the electoral reforms commission should start it work soon.
Talking to joint press conference with the Deputy Foreign Ministry, Hekmat Khalil Karzai and Special Representative of the US for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Daniel Feldman, Michael Koch the other day said that the international community’s support for the election process in Afghanistan would be in accordance with the agreements on formation of the national unity government (NUG). He said that electoral reforms commission should start its work as soon as possible.
Feldman said that to fulfill their commitments towards Afghanistan the US is waiting for the electoral reforms commission to start its work. Feldman said that the US is ready to strengthen the commission in order to bring reforms. “We are waiting for to commission to start its work following a presidential decree,” he said.
Hekmat Khalil Karzai said that the commission will start its work in a near future. He added that election process is marred by technical, logistic and financial problems.
