AT-KABUL: The ex-President Hamid Karzai in a meeting with the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhunkhwa (KP) Pervez Khattak and his accompanying delegation on Wednesday said that elimination of financial sources of terrorism is a must for bringing peace to the region.
The two leaders explored ways to bring lasting peace to the region, particularly areas on both sides of Durand Line. They hoped that Kabul and Islamabad will find an end to wars and conflicts in the countries through peace talks.
Hamid Karzai expressed his deep concerns over slaughter of tribal elders, religious scholars, children and women in Afghanistan and the other side of Durand Line. To uproot of terrorism, Karzai stressed that financial sources and ideological support for terrorists should be curtailed.
He reiterated his support for the peace process of Afghanistan. “War and military operations are not a solution, but they create distance between governments and people,” Hamid Karzai added.
