Kabul: Four manufacturing factories, set up at a cost of $50 million, were inaugurated on Wednesday in Herat’s industrial park, local officials said.
Nouruddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Trade of interim government, said that despite claims of capital flying the country, more investments are made in than ever before.
He also emphasized that they support domestic production and added “We are trying to provide many facilities for investors in the country.”
He added: In the current year, the country’s exports have increased by 35 percent.
On the other hand, Hamidullah Khadim, head of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines, said: 500 people will be employed directly and 2 thousand people will be employed indirectly in the newly established factories.
Khadim further stated: These four factories started their activities in the production of batteries, greenhouse plastic, chicken seed production and carton production.
The head of Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines stated that currently, 280 factories out of 400 factories are operating in the industrial town.
According to him, 70% of the factories that were almost stagnant, their problems have been solved.
