AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Seven members of a single family including three women and a child were killed after the Taliban insurgents fired a mortar shell, hitting their house in Baghlan-i-Markazi district of northern Baghlan province, officials said on Sunday.
Governor Gawhar Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban fired the mortar that hit the civilian home at 11:00 before noon.
In addition to that one member of the family was also received injures, he said, adding that security forces making efforts to locate the firing place. He also assured to arrest the culprits.
According to Pajhwok Afghan News, a doctor on duty at the Baghlan civil hospital, Khalil Narmgoy, confirmed receiving seven dead bodies and one injured person at the hospital. He said the injured one was also in critical condition.
However, the Taliban insurgent have not commented into the issue yet.
Ministry of interior condemns in the strongest terms the killings of seven members of a family, and calls this heinous act of absolute barbarism and a crime against humanity.
Separately, airstrikes killed at least 19 members of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group and eight others were wounded in eastern Kunar province, security officials said.
“The airstrike took place in Airogoi village, Dangam district,” ministry of interior said in a statement.
“One BM-1 rocket and one machine gun destroyed as well.”
It added the clearance operation still continues in the district.
