KABUL: At least six people, including five security members, were killed and 20 others received injuries after a vehicle borne explosive device went off near the police headquarter in Almar district of Faryab province on Monday night, provincial officials confirmed Tuesday.
Provincial Police Spokesman, Karim Yorish said that the blast occurred at around 12:00pm Monday night and followed by gunfights after a number of militants opened fire on the Afghan security forces. “All the four attackers were gunned down by the Afghan forces during hours of clashes.”
Five security forces, and a civilian embraced martyrdom in the incident, a security official said. Another 20 people, including 12 security forces members, and eight civilians, were wounded in the attack.
Several nearby shops and houses were also destroyed in the attack.
